The key to designing an interesting home is having a varied texture palette that will create depth in a space. Stone plays a key role in this, with it's natural variation in shade and light, smooth finish and luxurious tactile appeal. The smooth stone extends the texture palette of warm wooden furniture and provides the perfect way to introduce stone into any home.

The Delphi collection is named after Delphi in Connemara which is an area of outstanding natural beauty and a place where warm wood and marble co-exist side by side. Delphi combines the power and beauty of marble with the simplicity of the clean lines of wood.

Naturally Stunning

Finding the right combination of stone and wood is fundamental to the designing of this collection. The white marble stone has a clean and smooth finish, with simple variation of grey tinted clouding and veins but a mostly uniform appearance. By contrast, the black stone in the Delphi nest of tables has more drama with brighter veining dappled through the smooth finish.

Edition 02 introduced a rich green marble with true echos of Irish heritage. Edition 02 also introduced the stunning Toronto marble which is a uniquely warm toned marble with brown and sage green marbling.

Simple Yet Striking

The materials used in the Delphi collection speak for themselves. Keeping the natural wood smooth with the subtle grain of the mango wood in a warm mid tone stain, the pieces are all about a beautiful simplicity that can be achieved with quality textures. The softened corners and seamless inset handles for the drawers enhance the simple yet statement making shape.

Edition 02 saw the introduction of the smooth curves into all wood designs of the floating bedsides and floating consoles and dressing tables.

More About the Marble Top Collection

"Stone has always been a core part of our aesthetic and collection as a whole," says our founder Katharine Deas. "We are believers in the beauty of stone but also the practicality of having something so hardwearing for pieces that can take a bit of a beating like hallway console tables!"

We knew that stone would be an integral part of our collection but we wanted to approach it in a way that was original but subtle, looking to create pieces with depth without being an inaccessible design for the average home. We tried incorporating stone tops in a number of sketches and prototype meetings, never quite achieving the balance of simplicity and luscious texture that we wanted. We stumbled across an image of a slimline mid-century nest of tables and set about adapting the look with some modern curved edges and an inset piece of stone and the collection was born!

Despite appearances, natural stone is a soft and porous material - simply ask any kitchen maker's opinion on marble countertops and you will find that appearances can be quite deceiving!

Knowing the tricky nature of marble, we sought out a tougher white marble for our tops steering clear of soft stone and instead opting for a natural Indian stone with a much tougher exterior and a mid sheen. Nevertheless, we recommend going easy on stone tops to avoid chipping and always use a coaster as dark liquid can stain any light stone quite easily. Use a lightly damp microfibre cloth for an occasional clean and always dry completely to ensure your marble tops stay in pristine condition.

We agonised over getting the dimensions of the collection right to make them as functional as possible for any house.

- The Side Table with Drawer; We designed this piece to work equally well as an end table to a sofa as it will as a generous bedside locker. The capacious drawer allows for storage of remote controls or bedtime essentials, keeping the wide top clear for a decent sized lamp and space for a drink.

- The Console Table; We designed the console table as the ideal entrance hall piece with two spacious drawers for hallway essentials. At 35cm depth this piece is narrow without compromising on space. It would also work beautifully behind a sofa in an open plan space.
