A peacock on green, a symbol of good fortune in Japanese art.
In traditional Japanese art the peacock was an auspicious bird, and in Buddhist iconography a guardian against disaster because it could safely eat poisonous plants and snakes. This print, from a collection inspired by ukiyo-e woodblock prints, shows a peacock set against a deep green ground. It brings richness and colour to a living room or bedroom.
